John died March 3,1933 and Mary died Nov. 27,1928. They lived in the Abingdon or Herman areas. They may originally have been from West Virginia.

Children: Charles Henry; Herman Knox, married Anna HARMONY; Elizabeth, married Isaac Quentin ARMSTRONG; James Phillips, married Sarah Frances DEAL; and Charlotte married Alanson G. CHARLES. I believe there is some kind of connection to a man named Herman KNOX who lived in Knoxville in the 1830's and died about 1841. His brother James KNOX and sisters Elizabeth KNOX and Catherine KNOX TAYLOR also lived in Knox County.

Elizabeth is buried on the Joe Bolton farm, Knox Co, Ill. She was living at Millersburg, Mercer co, with her daughter Shurepta Ann who had married Francis Marion Cubbage. Elizabeth is the daughter of Joshua Barton and Elizabeth Knox (father John Knox dec of presb founder John Knox), both were born in Scotland.Their 5th child, Elizabeth Knox McNeal married Hugh Wells and lived in Beamon, Grundy Co Ia, then on to Nebraska. Their daughter Ruth married Elmer Bundy - these are my great-grandparents.

I'm researching the Charles FRANKENBERGER family of Knox Co; who moved to Knox Co. shortly after 1880. Charles was born in Bureau Co., in 1857. I believe they lived in Galesburg. His wife was named Anna, and he had among other children, a son Roy. I am also trying to find a Harry BROWN family which also had Bureau Co. roots but moved to Knox Co., at about the same time. Both families were still there in the 1920s. I have a lot of family information to share.

Their children were Minnie WHITE; born about 1873; Charles Thomas WHITE, born November 30, 1875 in Piatt County, IL, married October 3, 1896 Nellie EWING, in Yates City, IL, and died July 26, 1929; and Kate WHITE, born 1879. According to the 1880 IL census, they were living in Salem Township, Knox County, IL. One of the daughters married James PORTERFIELD and lived in Yates City or Farmington, but I don't know which one. I especially would like to find out more about Thomas, Hattie, Minnie and Kate.
