Biography - Albert A. Cawlkins
ALBERT A. CAWLKINS. A farmer, he is the son of Stephen and Anna (Smith)
Cawlkins, both of NY, and was born in Columbia County, NY on 1 June 1808. His
childhood was spent on a farm, and his only education facilities were the common
schools. He learned the trade of house carpenter and plied himself to it for
many years, but turned his attention to farming later in life. He came to Knox
County in 1836 and settled on Section 2, Sparta Twp., where he has lived ever
since. He was one of the first settlers on the prairie. On 1 May 1837 he married
Louise M. Park and they have had eight children, six of whom are now living. He
has been a member of the Baptist Church since 1832. He has been a pronounced
Republican since 1850. P.O. Oneida.
